I need help from my Ontario BOTLs! My sister is wanting to buy scotch for a group of Board Members of the company she’s with in Toronto. Budget is $200 per bottle for a bottle per member. Could go as high as $250. Wanting a “Wow” factor bottle of scotch. Recommendations please and thanks?
While I’ll defer to those with more experience than me (I’m a boring Lag 16 guy), I can say the selection for and decent single malt is very poor in the province of Ontario right now.
May limit her choices.
Budget has been increased to $300 (all in). What do you think of Glenfarclas 25 year? $269.10 at LCBO
If you’re talking about multiple bottles, than the best way is to order from AB and ship to ON. Aprox $60 for 6 bottles insured.
PM for more details.
I’m boring.
I’d go with a Macallan Double Cask 15 year.
Otherwise maybe the Auchentoshan 21 year
I’ve been checking the LCBO site. Brutal. Anything interesting is out of stock.
I might pick up here in BC and ship to her.
Opinions on these options please:
Glenfarclas 25 year
Bruichladdich Octomore 12.1
Bruichladdich Octomore 10.4
Dalmore 18 year
Cambus 32 year Old Particular Douglas Laing
yes, the Ontario / LCBO selection is beyond hopeless.
even staples, like my oh so standard Lag 16, is often sold out right across the province.
I’m not sure if it is hoarders who purchase multiple bottles when they come into stock…at the new ridiculous prices, I can’t imagine that…but who knows, lots of wealthy folk in Ontario.
I think I have it sorted out. Going with Bunnahabhain 18 year old. $217.61 including taxes here at my local private shop in Victoria. Will ship them to her.
now that is a great choice! well done sir.
Just arrived in stock today! Not on their site yet. BC Liquor Stores don’t have it either. I love Bunnahabhain. Might have to get one for myself!
Bunnahabhain Toiteach a Dhà is possibly the best single malt I’ve ever had. It wasn’t the most expensive by any means, but it is the only single malt I’ve had that I’d probably take over Lag 16.
