I searched and could not find a thread devoted to Canadian Whisky so I’ll start one
I just read that Jim Murray has awarded CROWN ROYAL NORTHERN HARVEST RYE whisky of the year with a score of 97.5. Seems a bit hard to believe. I do enjoy CR but I can’t believe they would produce a whisky to merit such a score. I guess I should try some as the price is good. Anyone try this bottling?
I have an unopened bottle of the Wisers 18, need to try it soon. It was a gift.
I do enjoy a good Canadian Whisky but I have not tried a lot. My budget usually goes elsewhere. I do like Highwood Distillers stuff, Century 20, Ninety, etc. I drank my fair share of Crown Royal in my 20s and I can’t believe that it can be THAT good. I guess I can take a punt at the price it’s going for.
Great thread-A few of my favourites are Wisers Legacy and Mastersons Rye. Lot 40 is delicious also. Since I like single malt scotch as my preference, I tend to enjoy more of a rye based, stronger Canadian Whiskey. Having said that, there are some fabulous Irish Whiskeys that are sweeter for special evenings.
Can’t belive it! Highly doubt it, but i’ll giver a try. I highly recommend Canadian Club Chairsmen’s Select, 100% rye. Don’t let the price fool you, absolutely delicious.
Lads, I’d pick up some of the harvest rye. It’s pretty damn tasty. It’s started off a bit harsh but after being open for an hour or so it settled right down and got better with each sip.
